Based on Amazon reviews, I checked this book out expecting some generic “I’m in love with my brother” sort of story that seems to come up a lot in J-Anime and yaoi (See: Golden Cain. Her parents haven’t been getting on so well of late and Maya is sure they wouldn’t get a divorce because it isn’t done in her culture. When this self-appointed tumbleweed begins to realize how important she is to her family, she isn’t the only one to notice how beautiful her bloom is.

The dialogue in this novella is awesome to me, and probably what most other folks would consider off-color at best. The sentences were so poorly written that it was hard to read at times. I really and truly enjoyed this book to the point that it launched me on a course to pruchase any and every e-book available anthology edited by Julie Czerneda as well as everything Julie Czerneda has written herself.
